The Dublin Fire brigade posters are about promoting diversity within their organisation. The fire brigade got in touch with my college, asking us to make in house posters, promoting diversity. My idea was to make diverse characters out of the the Dubllin Fire Brigades initials. Each character is doing a different action in 2 of the posters. This was to show that each of these characters although different still spell out DFB, showing that DFB promotes diversity. These posters were extremely satisfying to make as first of all, the outcome I came up with is fun and playfull (in terms of the design). Second of all it was great to make a piece about a serious, important topic that I fully believe in. The Dublin Fire Department lacks diversity and that's a problem that dosen't get talked about as much as it should be.
For these posters, the class was asked to make an A4, A3 and A0 poster. The A4 and A3 are basically the same, however I had never made anything to an A0 scale before this projet and found it difficult to fill out the large space. I put a fire truck in the A0 poster as well as the values that DFB wanted to promote. I also decided to go with blunt, no nonscense words, to not sugar coat how I felt about the topic.
